With the Dirty Bird truck setting up a regular spot in the Bay, we asked some Cardiff locals: what do you think of the Dirty Bird Logo?
Gavin Trinder, 20, Abergavenny, Gardener
“It’s… interesting! It looks a bit like a penis. Am I allowed to say that? I’m not too sure if it’s a very good logo.”
Anna Gallagher, 32, Bristol, Advertising Agent
“Oh, Gosh. It’s quite rude. Very phallic! Oh and it’s called Dirty Bird as well…. Wow.”
Robin Williams, 52, Ex-Civil Servant, Barry
“I’m surprised they’ve been allowed to get away with it, to be totally honest. I find it amusing, if not crude. It’s funny, but whether they’d be allowed to use that in a public place is anyone’s guess.”
Laura Eddleston, 21, Junior Support Worker, Mid Wales
“It’s cute! I like it, it’s quite bold and in your face.”
James Austic, Yorkshire, 25, Paintball Salesman
“It looks great! It looks like Nandos but a little bit spiced up. It’s definitely going to attract a lot of naughty birds.”
Susan Davis, 67, Retired; Sylvia Davis, 72, Retired; Jenine Hews, 51, Retired – Merthyr
“Not very much!”
After ruffling feathers at the Cardiff Street Feast, a new food truck is taking up residence at the Warehouse Depot in Cardiff Bay.
From October 31st, Dirty Bird Fried Chicken will be selling its wares every Friday and Saturday. The truck’s fried chicken has made it a popular lunch spot, but Dirty Bird has also drawn national attention with its controversial logo, and its not-so-subtle slogan, ‘Eat Cock’.
Mark James, designer of the logo, said: “It got a bit out of hand […] one of the funniest [reactions] was being discussed on an American chat show. Then there was an Australian online show that claimed it was all a marketing scam, and that there was a huge ad agency behind it.”
