In these times of austerity, people can be forgiven for tightening their belts and looking after the pennies.
But, in a show of defiance against the economy, people from Cardiff and further afield have opened their wallets and given aplenty to charity, raising an estimated £1m.
The Cardiff Half Marathon is always a spectacle of athletic prowess and physical endeavour, but this year it was notable for its fundraising too.
Nigel Roberts, Run4Wales Director, was quoted as saying before the event in walesonline.co.uk, “We want to rank alongside the London Marathon and the Great North Run,” who’s annual fundraising scales into the tens of millions.
So why not dust down those running shoes, and fundraise yourself?
