800 People cycled to Cardiff Bay to call for a fair global deal on climate change
Hundreds cycled to the the Welsh Assembly on 26 November to call for a greener deal at the Paris Climate Change Conference.
Over 800 people cycled to the Welsh Assembly in Cardiff Bay to take part in a rally organised by Stop Climate Change Chaos Cymru. They began their one mile protest from Callaghan Square to the National Assembly for Wales at 1:30pm.
The rally included many charities and organisations and was hosted by Welsh comedian and environmental activist Dan Mitchell. Other notables included Assembly Member Alun Davies, Oxfam Cymru officer Casia William and Welsh Green Party leader Pippa Bartolotti. Casia said she was very grateful for the many who came out to show support despite the rainy weather.
The protest was called because of the 2016 United Nations Climate Change Conference which began last week. World leaders are meeting to discuss how to tackle climate change on a global scale.
Alun said, “If we’re serious about ensuring that we address climate change, that we leave a world to our children that is fit to inherit, we have a fight on our hands. Pippa told crowds: “Let’s get to the point, there is climate change, and we are living with it…we say this to Paris, to our Government. Please change.”
