GreensVegan believe raising awareness of cancer is important as one in two people are affected by cancer in some way.
GreensVeganwill be hosting a charity event on 1 November to raise money for Velindre, which is the leading Cancer Centre in Wales.
The Winter Warmer fundraiser will be the first of a series of events held at GreensVegan in Windsor Place, Cardiff, from 9:30am to 11:30am where the restaurant will sell vegan cakes and Velindre merchandise.
GreensVegan is a kitchen, bar and lifestyle business founded and owned by Nicola Janicijevicand Joanne Greenaway, two business women who believe in the power of food and exercise to improve health and to recover from diseases.
Through GreensVegan they wish to create a safe space where people can learn about alimentation and nutrition from them, as they are both fully trained nutrition and exercise coaches.
“All of our family and friends that have suffered with cancer have used Velindre services and we just wanted to give something back,” said Joanne about why they chose to raise money for the centre. “All of the money will go to Velindre.”
She continued: “From my experience, the people that I’ve met in Velindre are really open, honest, encouraging. They’ve supported us setting up these events.”
Velindre Cancer Centre, a division of the Velindre NHS Trust from 1994, provides care and states it supports more than 1.5 million patients and families form the South East Wales and beyond.
Velindre said that the money raised by GreensVegans will be used to ensure that the best possible support is offered to every patient, their families and carers dealing with cancer.
They added that charity money enables them to fund specialist nurses who are fundamental to a patient’s experience; specialist equipment and research into new treatments.
GreensVegan will be raising additional money for Velindre on 1 November with a Drink and Doodle event and on 28 November with a Clothes Swap event.
