Local charity Llamau invites everyone to join them in outdoors in the battle against homelessness with a night filled with friends, fun and fundraising
Local Welsh charity Llamau is hosting a Sleep Out event at Cardiff City Stadium on 22 November to raise funds for their cause.
As the event name suggests, participants spend the night outdoors in a group to raise funds for those people in Cardiff who seek support from the homeless charity.
Llamau has been operating in Wales for over 30 years. Last year alone the charity supported over 9,000 people to leave homelessness behind.
Fundraising and events officer Elin Evans said, “Llamau supports young people who are at risk of homelessness and women and families who are escaping their abusive homes.”
The event is designed to be as friendly and comfortable as possible. Elin said, “People can expect hot food, hot drinks and a lovely time.”
Participants must pay a £25 registration fee and Llamau is asking each participant to raise a minimum of £250. The charity will give plenty of support to help participants raise as much money as possible to support them in their battle to end homelessness.
Registration for the event is open until 22 November, anyone wishing to participate must be 18 and over.
Attendees are encouraged to plan their shelters in advance as there are various prizes for the best shelter at the event. In the past Llamau says the sleep out has seen pirate ships, viking longboats, wigwams and more.
Last year’s event saw two hundred attendees raise £60,000. This year, Llamau is hoping to raise a little bit more and increase the number of participants to closer to 250.
Part of the money raised will go towards the launch of its homelessness helpline for young people. Further information about the helpline can be found on the Llamau website.
Other funds raised will go towards the Llamau Christmas appeal which, Elin explains, helps ensure those Llamau support get a nice Christmas this year.
