Cathays locals have come together to discuss their outrage over plans to build a 24 bed halls of residence on Letty Street, Cathays.
The new Cardiff University halls will convert the already situated offices into the newest accommodation for students, adding to the student presence that already causes problems in Cathays.
Posters around Cathays, provided by local resident Jackie Howard, claim Cardiff University has not consulted those already living on the street or in the surrounding area. The poster goes on to state that the halls will create more parking issues, as well as more noise and waste issues from students.
Cathays post office worker Louisa Hale said, “We are losing Cathays to the students. No one wants to live here any more”
Student and Cathays resident Leo Moreau said, “Every major city has a student area, even though noise issues may arise, think of all the positives students bring to that city. Cardiff is more than a few angry residents”
