Activists are staging an on-going protest at Zippos Circus site
A local animal rights group has set up camp outside a circus tent in central Cardiff, in protest against the use of animals in circuses.
The group has been protesting outside Zippos Circus since its run began in Sophia Gardens on 13 October 2011. The circus has drawn crowds from across South Wales, and promises spectators a show replete with stunning equestrian acts.
However, Lucy Caits, 22, is the leader of the animal rights group that has pitched itself alongside Zippos’ big top and she claims that the horses used in Zippos Circus are maltreated. Indeed, Miss Caits said, “We’re not here to break any laws, but we’ve had reports of horses being whipped in the face and cuts on their legs. We’re here to raise awareness.”
