Heads Above the Waves started out as an ethical clothing brand, but continues to grow with the development of self-care workshops. The workshops are taking place in a number of local schools across Cardiff, hoping to get young people discussing their issues.
Working with young people to get them talking about their issues
Managing director Si Martin states, “A major part of each workshop involves a discussion where we get everyone to look at their life in line with a self-care spectrum. The spectrum helps people identify the things causing issues as well as the positive elements, it is really about getting people to prioritise taking care of themselves first and foremost.”
The workshops are based on an individual’s story, using how they dealt with their own issues as the structure for each session. This includes activities such as drumming circles, to encourage students to express their problems though creativity.
