With snow reported to arrive as early as November this year, what do you think should be done to help homeless people as the temperature drops?
Rachel Bogan, 29, student, Plymouth
“I think in general there are, if you look around, hundreds of thousands of empty homes that could be given to people.”
Tina Denton, 41, teaching assistant, Swansea
“They should provide more shelters and set up more soup kitchens actually just providing more housing in general.”
Bo Friar, 22, insurer, Cardiff
“There are loads of churches that no one uses in the city centre, clean them up and put them in there.”
Catrin James, 27, society worker, Caerphilly,
“There should be more facilities provided like shelters and food banks are a great idea.
Malik Meer, 27, office worker, Cardiff
“More shelters. And we should give blankets to homeless people.”
Stuart Hall, 39, office interiors, Abergavenny
“Find them shelter I suppose. Give them all tents.”
A sleep out organised by homeless charity Llamau will take place in early November in an attempt to raise money for some of Cardiff’s most vulnerable.
On 7 November volunteers will spend the night outside of the Wales International Sports Stadium, experiencing some of the harsh realities facing Cardiff’s homeless in the beginning of what is predicted to be a snow filled winter.
Llamau works alongside young people and women throughout Wales to educate people about homelessness and help provide people with warm beds throughout the winter months.
Chief executive Francis Beecher said: “The idea is to show solidarity and to raise awareness and funds to support the work that we do.”
There will be entertainment provided through the night with food supplied by Domino’s Pizza and Peter’s Foods and Las Iguanas.
