Coco Caravan is sold in 14 different shops across the country, as well as their online store which can be found here.
“One of my favourite treats is our own hot chocolate drink” said Cöp. His hot chocolate is a blend of raw cacao, vanilla and coconut nectar. Raw cacao is different to regular cocoa because it is not roasted, but cold-pressed, removing most of the fat content.
Cöp also provided us with a recipe for a fully vegan cake, with apples, plums, coconut sugar, soy milk, vegan butter or margerine and his own cacao powder.
The full recipe for the cake can be found on his website, while our attempt can be seen in the video below. We’re a long way from Bake Off!
As winter rolls around, it can be tricky for many people to find delicious seasonal treats as so many foods don’t comply with vegan dietary or ethical requirements. But one chocolatier in Llandaf has found the perfect range of products for this market – organic, fairtrade, vegan raw chocolate blends.
Jaques Cöp studied environmental science in Amsterdam where he found work as an ecologist. After moving to Wales, he now makes his living as a full-time chocolatier by founding Coco Caravan. But how can he guarantee his products are ethically sourced?
“I work with top-quality ingredients and trusted importers and wholesalers. You have to trust accreditation and certification” Cöp told us. “I focus less on selling my chocolate and more on quality. I love my products. Raw chocolate is that little bit creamier.”
