London can be pricey but there’s plenty of activities that won’t break the bank
London is great, there’s no doubt about it. There’s a reason it’s England’s capital city. The array of activities available are second to none. If you do want a fun day out with your children but don’t want to fork out, you’re in luck. We’ve found five fun family days out that you and your clan can enjoy.
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Cost: Free
The Olympic Park has a massive variety of activities that all the family can enjoy. Whether you’re enjoying the breathtaking views of London from the ArcelorMittal Orbit, taking a twisty 40-second journey down the slide or letting the kids loose in the tumbling bay playground, you’ll have a memorable family trip with your kids that will wear you all out.

The Ritzy Cinema
Cost: £2-3
The Ritzy Cinema is the perfect rainy day out. The cinema runs child-friendly screenings including toddler time for those parents with preschool children (£3 for children, free for accompanying adults) and kids club for children aged 3 – 12 with £2 tickets for all.
Crystal Palace Dinosaurs
Cost: Free
The Crystal Palace Dinos are a collection of wooden dinosaurs modelled in 1854. They’re the first ever attempt anywhere in the world to model dinosaurs full scale. Your child will love spotting the different statues, as well as finding their way out of the maze. Bring a pair of binoculars to get a close-up look at the dinosaurs.
Hackney City Farm
Cost: Free
A great opportunity to experience farming in the heart of the city. Your children will love meeting animals such as pigs, goats, chickens and even donkeys. The farm also runs volunteer sessions on Saturdays for children aged 8 – 17 to learn about nature, make arts and crafts and get to know the animals. There’s also a farm shop selling eggs, organic vegetables and other local produce.
Royal Academy of Art
Cost: Free
The Royal Academy runs free monthly family studio workshops with no booking required. You can drop in with your child and create and learn in workshops based around current displays. After you could check out those current exhibitions, as children under 16 are admitted for free.
