A Cardiff fishmonger says there isn’t enough fresh fish available in Cardiff.
Simon Tottle, who works at Cardiff Market says supermarkets in the city aren’t giving people enough options.
“They don’t have fresh fish and they don’t have a range of fish.
“What they do, they do well, but it’s not the same as what you get here.”
Mr Tottle also thinks people aren’t eating enough fish because they don’t know how to prepare different types of fish. He says when people come to his stall he can suggest new types of fish for them to try and ways to prepare them. He says he thinks this makes people more likely to try different types of fish and eat it more often.
Recent research by Yougov showed that two thirds of British adults aren’t eating enough fish.
The recommended amount is two portions of fish a week, but figures show this isn’t happening.
A third of people surveyed in the YouGov poll said they’d eat more fish if it wasn’t so expensive.
