Hotel booking site Trivago says prices for a hotel room for when Wales play England in the Six Nations have seen a 345% increase.
Trivago says the average price for a room in Wales’ capital on Saturday night is £481 – the average price for a hotel room this month is £108.
And when Wales play Ireland at the Principality Stadium on March 10th, the average price for a room in Cardiff has risen by 257% to £386.
The Big Sleep Hotel is charging £493 for a deluxe twin room this Saturday night – and according to Trivago it’s just £108 for a similar room the following weekend.
The Big Sleep Hotel says it’s experiencing technical difficulties with its website and is unable to comment on the price differences.
The Village Hotel Club, in the Coryton area, is charging £702 for a double room this Saturday. A similar room the weekend after costs £111. Hotel staff confirmed the price increase saying “prices vary all the time.”
Trivago says hotel prices increased by 28% compared to the Six Nations last year.
