Letters stolen from Cathays pub sign

7 February 2020

The Mackintosh pub in Cathays has launched an appeal on social media asking the thieves to return the letters stolen from the frontage.

It is thought the letters were stolen over the weekend following the Wales vs Italy Six Nations game, which was shown at the pub.

On one side of the pub the sign was left completely bare, and the sign above the entrance has had three letters stolen.

In a Facebook post the owners said they had CCTV footage of some of the thieves, who stole one of the letters on Saturday night.

The owners claim that the footage shows a man and two women stealing the letters at 2:15am – and shows them looking directly into the CCTV camera.

The staff have given the culprits until Monday 10th of February to return all of the letters, or they say the footage will be passed on to the university student’s union, and the police

There are currently signs placed in the pub windows addressing the letter thieves.

The pub is offering a reward for the return of any of the letters and any information on the thieves.

Since the Facebook post one letter ‘A’ has been returned.

The Macintosh Pub declined to comment.
