{"id":13387,"date":"2016-11-08T15:08:21","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T15:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=13387"},"modified":"2016-11-28T16:41:58","modified_gmt":"2016-11-28T16:41:58","slug":"cardiff-park-could-be-best-in-uk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/cardiff-park-could-be-best-in-uk\/","title":{"rendered":"Cardiff park could be voted best in the UK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of Cardiff&#8217;s historic green spaces\u00a0is in the running\u00a0for best park in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Roath Park is the only of the Capital&#8217;s parks\u00a0to be nominated for the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fieldsintrust.org\/\">Fields In Trust<\/a> award. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>It is now up to the public to vote for their favorite with the winner\u00a0in Wales shortlisted for the final award.<\/p>\n<p>More than 200 parks have been put forward for the title\u00a0across the UK, including fourteen in Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Cardiff City Council Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Bob Derbyshire said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEver since Roath Park opened to the public in 1894 it\u2019s been one of the city\u2019s most popular parks. Its boating lake, rose gardens, champion trees, very own rainforest in the Conservatory, as well as its sports facilities, playgrounds and wild gardens make Roath Park a real jewel in the city\u2019s crown.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The online vote\u00a0closes on Wednesday 9th November.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of Cardiff&#8217;s historic green spaces\u00a0is in the running\u00a0for best park in Britain.
