{"id":13390,"date":"2016-11-08T16:07:59","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T16:07:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=13390"},"modified":"2016-11-08T16:31:58","modified_gmt":"2016-11-08T16:31:58","slug":"petition-to-stop-demolition-of-historic-citadel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/petition-to-stop-demolition-of-historic-citadel\/","title":{"rendered":"Petition to stop demolition of historic building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A man from Adamsdown has organised a petition to stop the proposed demolition of the historic <em>citade<\/em>l building on Splott Road and Pearl Street.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Owen Jones, who started the petition, says people haven&#8217;t been consulted about the plans or told what will be built on the land.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He says &#8220;Adamsdown [is] a huge population centre and so there are\u00a0a lot of calls for a community based building&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Local C2J Architects submitted the proposals and say a recent structural survey of the building highlighted its &#8216;potentially dangerous structure&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The survey also shows\u00a0the rear of the Citadel\u00a0is at &#8216;high risk of complete collapse, potentially towards the adjacent railway line&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>The building was also\u00a0found to be in\u00a0&#8216;poor condition&#8217; with damp and hollow plaster inside exposed to the elements over a number of years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The application for demolition of the building was submitted to Cardiff City Council last month\u00a0to allow for redevelopment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">C2J Architects have also released plans on their website for the construction of 21 flats on the site, which haven&#8217;t yet been submitted for approval.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">But Owen says &#8220;by putting in the [application for the] development without saying I&#8217;ll be putting\u00a0flats there is just a way of\u00a0getting it fast tracked&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The petition so far has more than forty signatures, but\u00a0Owen hopes to collect more names\u00a0by\u00a0knocking doors in the area close to the building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man from Adamsdown has organised a petition to stop the proposed demolition of the historic citadel building on Splott Road and Pearl Street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":201,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[743,744],"tags":[603,803,680],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/13390"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/201"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=13390"}],"version-history":[{"count":15,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/13390\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":13525,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/13390\/revisions\/13525"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=13390"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=13390"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=13390"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
