{"id":13585,"date":"2016-11-28T15:57:45","date_gmt":"2016-11-28T15:57:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=13585"},"modified":"2016-11-28T16:01:40","modified_gmt":"2016-11-28T16:01:40","slug":"disabled-people-in-heath-want-council-to-fix-pavements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/disabled-people-in-heath-want-council-to-fix-pavements\/","title":{"rendered":"Disabled people in Heath want council to fix pavements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>People with restricted mobility living in the Heath area of Cardiff say they are struggling to use pavements on Manor Way after recent roadworks.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>They say paths were damaged by the digging but have not been repaired.<\/p>\n<p>The works were part of Cardiff City Council&#8217;s Local Transport Plan to improve access within the community.<\/p>\n<p>The Council said before the works began that they would make it easier for people to get in and out of the city.<\/p>\n<p>But now the re-construction is complete, some have said the situation has been made worse and it&#8217;s now harder to get around than before.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Butcher, 65, says it&#8217;s now almost impossible to get onto the paths outside his house because of the damage, which has left the surface uneven and full of holes.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s like going up and down a mountain, getting over them. Why they can&#8217;t finish it in one go, I do not know&#8217;.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13821\" style=\"width: 535px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13821\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-13821 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/File_000-5-1-525x394.jpeg\" alt=\"file_000-5\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-13821\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Uneven surfaces and potholes left by the roadworks<\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Butcher says his mobility scooter now has to dodge piles of debris left over from the construction as well as potholes, which are only covered up with unfixed plastic sheets.<\/p>\n<p>Independent Heath Councillor Fenella Bowden, says the council needs to repair the damage.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;The pavements have just been left in an utter mess.
