{"id":14279,"date":"2017-01-20T15:55:38","date_gmt":"2017-01-20T15:55:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=14279"},"modified":"2017-01-26T21:11:53","modified_gmt":"2017-01-26T21:11:53","slug":"councillors-concern-over-new-flats-for-grangetown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/councillors-concern-over-new-flats-for-grangetown\/","title":{"rendered":"Councillor&#8217;s concern over new flats for Grangetown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A local councillor in Grangetown says plans for 19 new flats in the area do not have enough parking spaces.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The 19 new flats will be built inside the decorating shop FA Jones on Penarth Road, which will be demolished if the plans are approved by Cardiff City Council.<\/p>\n<p>But Labour councillor for Grangetown Lynda Thorne says while there is parking space available, more needs to be done: &#8220;There is some parking space but that is for residents of Thomas Street, so this is just going to make the situation worse.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_14426\" style=\"width: 313px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-14426\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-14426\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0780-163x122.jpg\" alt=\"FA Jones is closing down after 65 years.\" width=\"303\" height=\"227\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-14426\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">FA Jones is closing down after 65 years.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I understand the council are encouraging people not to use their cars but some people still need to use cars.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>If plans for the 19 flats are approved, they will be used for affordable housing. According to developers, this is a reason why the council have agreed to a zero parking policy.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Thorne said: &#8220;Even if nobody owned a car in the block, people still have visitors. They have doctors, nurses, repair men and delivery men.<\/p>\n<p>There is nothing that I can see in those plans that makes these provisions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Developers Hale Construction say they will provide two disabled parking spaces behind the flats.
