{"id":14674,"date":"2017-01-24T14:37:08","date_gmt":"2017-01-24T14:37:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=14674"},"modified":"2017-01-24T15:11:12","modified_gmt":"2017-01-24T15:11:12","slug":"hundreds-sign-petition-for-20mph-zone-outside-radyr-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/hundreds-sign-petition-for-20mph-zone-outside-radyr-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds sign petition for 20mph zone outside Radyr Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 400 people have signed a petition asking Cardiff City Council to put a 20mph zone outside Radyr Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>Plaid Cymru candidate for Radyr &amp; Morganstown, Michael Deem started the petition.<\/p>\n<p>He says the roads around Radyr need to be made safer for schoolchildren.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There was an incident outside Radyr Primary School before Christmas, where a car almost knocked down a family, after mounting the pavement.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People feel so strongly they have even taken the trouble to return their petitions by post.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>20mph zones are recommended by RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Protection of Accidents. They say they are very effective at preventing injuries.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14729\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/File_002-6-163x122.jpeg\" alt=\"file_002\" width=\"223\" height=\"167\" \/>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-14797\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/car-blurred-163x122.jpg\" alt=\"car-blurred\" width=\"223\" height=\"167\" \/><\/p>\n<p>RoSPA say Local Authorities are responsible for deciding where the 20mph zones should be introduced and must always listen to local people.<\/p>\n<p>Mr\u00a0Deem doesn&#8217;t think Cardiff City Council are acting quickly enough and says he plans to take the issue to the Welsh Government.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Ramesh Patel, Cabinet Member for Transport, Cardiff City Council says it is inappropriate for him to comment at this stage.<\/p>\n<p>He says he will be responding to a related question from a member of the public on Thursday in the Council Chambers.<\/p>\n<p>CJS News have approached Radyr Primary School but so far nobody from the school has been available for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 400 people have signed a petition asking Cardiff City Council to put a 20mph zone outside Radyr Primary School.
