{"id":14933,"date":"2017-01-27T15:29:17","date_gmt":"2017-01-27T15:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=14933"},"modified":"2017-01-27T15:29:17","modified_gmt":"2017-01-27T15:29:17","slug":"confusion-over-cardiff-christmas-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/confusion-over-cardiff-christmas-tree\/","title":{"rendered":"Confusion over Cardiff Christmas tree"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s almost February but a Christmas tree in Cardiff still hasn&#8217;t been taken down.<\/p>\n<p>The Christmas tree outside the Hilton hotel in the city centre is still above the hotel&#8217;s entrance &#8211; more than a month after everybody unwrapped their presents.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0it&#8217;s emerged there&#8217;s confusion over who is actually responsible for it.<\/p>\n<p>The Hilton have told CJS News the tree doesn&#8217;t belong to them. They say it&#8217;s the responsibility of Cardiff Council.<\/p>\n<p>But Cardiff Council have said the tree isn&#8217;t their responsibility either.<\/p>\n<p>One shopper said: &#8220;I just think it&#8217;s really lazy because it&#8217;s almost February.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I work in a card shop and we&#8217;re already getting ready for Valentine&#8217;s Day&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another passer-by said:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I mean, it should really be taken down but the fact that it&#8217;s still up makes it looks more humorous when you walk in to town&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It follows another Christmas tree row in the city when Cardiff Council was criticised for not having a Christmas tree in time for the city\u2019s Christmas lights switch-on.<\/p>\n<p>They also apologised after announcing a 40m artificial tree covered in baubles would be on\u00a0display outside Cardiff Castle.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the council had ordered a 40ft tree from China costing\u00a0 \u00a330,000 over a 3 year lease.
