It’s almost February but a Christmas tree in Cardiff still hasn’t been taken down.<\/p>\n
The Christmas tree outside the Hilton hotel in the city centre is still above the hotel’s entrance – more than a month after everybody unwrapped their presents.<\/p>\n
But\u00a0it’s emerged there’s confusion over who is actually responsible for it.<\/p>\n
The Hilton have told CJS News the tree doesn’t belong to them. They say it’s the responsibility of Cardiff Council.<\/p>\n
But Cardiff Council have said the tree isn’t their responsibility either.<\/p>\n
One shopper said: “I just think it’s really lazy because it’s almost February.<\/p>\n
“I work in a card shop and we’re already getting ready for Valentine’s Day”<\/p>\n
Another passer-by said:<\/p>\n
“I mean, it should really be taken down but the fact that it’s still up makes it looks more humorous when you walk in to town”.<\/p>\n
It follows another Christmas tree row in the city when Cardiff Council was criticised for not having a Christmas tree in time for the city\u2019s Christmas lights switch-on.<\/p>\n
They also apologised after announcing a 40m artificial tree covered in baubles would be on\u00a0display outside Cardiff Castle.<\/p>\n
In fact, the council had ordered a 40ft tree from China costing\u00a0 \u00a330,000 over a 3 year lease. Cardiff Council said the installation will save tax-payers \u00a35,000 compared to previous years.<\/p>\n
