Campaigners say even if proposals\u00a0for a new development in Creigiau are approved they will continue fighting for their transport concerns to be addressed.<\/p>\n
1,500\u00a0new homes, offices and a park and ride are all planned in Creigiau as part of Cardiff City Council’s Local Development Plan.<\/p>\n
But campaigners say the development\u00a0will increase pressure on already gridlocked roads in the area.<\/p>\n
Gavin Hill-John, a Conservative Councillor for nearby Pentyrch, says “The local main roads as we know can’t cope already.\u00a0There are clearly issues across the board and none of this is being addressed.”<\/p>\n
“There are no\u00a0convincing proposals for transport alternatives which could persuade a large portion\u00a0of new and current locals to use them.”<\/p>\n
He also says the proposed park and ride lacks a clear plan and doesn’t consider\u00a0the nearby busy roads.<\/p>\n
“There is\u00a0no clear defined plan, its just ‘we are going to do this’.”<\/p>\n
If the plans are approved Cllr Hill-John says he\u00a0will make sure that the views of his\u00a0constituents are represented and their concerns are addressed.<\/p>\n
But Councillor Ramesh Patel, cabinet member for planning and sustainability, says that the LDP offers an exciting opportunity for Cardiff.<\/p>\n
“It will enable us to have affordable new homes constructed. Sustainable homes, suitable for families and our growing population.”<\/p>\n
Cardiff City Planning Committee will make a final decision on the plans tomorrow.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
