{"id":15961,"date":"2017-02-17T13:08:34","date_gmt":"2017-02-17T13:08:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=15961"},"modified":"2017-02-17T13:08:34","modified_gmt":"2017-02-17T13:08:34","slug":"concerns-over-new-businesses-on-whitchurch-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/concerns-over-new-businesses-on-whitchurch-road\/","title":{"rendered":"Concerns over new businesses on Whitchurch Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A local resident has raised concerns over three new businesses which have applied for<em>\u00a0<\/em>licenses from Cardiff City Council on Whitchurch Road.<\/p>\n<p>The applications are for cafes or bars &#8211; all on sites that used to be take-away outlets or shops.<\/p>\n<p>The council have so far approved one license at number 11-13, which will be turned into a bar called The Black Beetle.<\/p>\n<p>Graham Stewart lives just off Whitchurch Road, and says there are already parking problems in the area. He told CJS News\u00a0that because it is not clear where residential parking starts, people often park on his road. He says if a new bar opens just down the street the problem will\u00a0only get worse.<\/p>\n<p>The Liberal Democrat Councillor for Gabalfa, Ed Bridges, says\u00a0new businesses will be good for the road and will attract new people. He says\u00a0he wants new businesses that open on Whitchurch\u00a0Road to be of a high quality so that there are &#8220;not too many take-aways&#8221;, because he thinks the lack of diversity of businesses is a problem.<\/p>\n<p>In response to Mr Stewart&#8217;s\u00a0concerns about parking, Councillor Bridges says he agrees\u00a0that the current system is\u00a0confusing, and says the Council are currently reviewing parking in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The two other applications for licenses on Whitchurch Road have not yet been approved. One application is for\u00a0a cafe with proposed opening hours from 8am until 11pm.
