A new community hub for Llandaff North and Gabalfa has officially opened on the site of the former Llandaff North Library.<\/p>\n
It cost \u00a31.2 million to build.

Cardiff City Council has been combining libraries with other services in community hubs.<\/p>\n
The new Hub houses library services, a cafe, rooms for community meetings and events and also provides employment advice.<\/p>\n
Residents told CJS News that the Hub was an improvement on the previous library, and that it was good that services had been brought together under one roof.<\/p>\n
But\u00a0John Meredith, who used the old library, said “the unfortunate side as I see it, is that there are\u00a0fewer books on the shelves.”<\/p>\n
The Leader of Cardiff Council,\u00a0Phil Bale, said “The solution for every library will be slightly different and that will reflect the community in which it’s located.”<\/p>\n
“The important thing for us is that we’ve given a commitment to support our library network across the city.<\/p>\n
“We aren’t looking at downgrading or closing libraries, but that doesn’t mean that we can keep those libraries in the same form that they’ve been operating in the past.”<\/p>\n
The council is now consulting people living in Roath and Adamsdown on plans to develop a community hub in the chapel at Cardiff Royal Infirmary.<\/p>\n
This will replace Roath Library, which is currently closed for maintenance.<\/p>\n
