A luxury camping village will be built on Pontcanna Fields to allow more football fans to stay in Cardiff during the Champions League Final this June.<\/p>\n

The decision, given the go ahead by Cardiff City Council, was announced after almost every hotel in the Cardiff area was fully booked for the weekend of the final.<\/p>\n
The campsite will include 2,000 pre-pitched tents ranging from \u00a350 to \u00a3125 a night. There’ll be hot showers, bars and HD televisions.<\/p>\n
But some locals are worried about the state of the field after the tournament has ended.<\/p>\n
Aled Jones is the manager of football team Aberystwyth Exiles, who train and play on Pontcanna Fields.<\/p>\n
He says, “the park pitches are already in a bad state, so setting up a campsite in Pontcanna risking further damage to the pitches could cause significant long-term problems for local leagues.”<\/p>\n
Tens of thousands of football fans are due to visit the area to watch the men’s final on the 3rd June at the National Stadium of Wales and the women’s final on the 1st June at the Cardiff City Stadium.<\/p>\n
The campsite will be set up on the 31st May by the private company, Campingninja, supported by Cardiff City Council.<\/p>\n
