{"id":16650,"date":"2017-03-03T14:16:40","date_gmt":"2017-03-03T14:16:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=16650"},"modified":"2017-03-03T14:16:40","modified_gmt":"2017-03-03T14:16:40","slug":"new-name-for-welsh-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/new-name-for-welsh-assembly\/","title":{"rendered":"New name for Welsh Assembly ?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A consultation\u00a0asking people whether the National Assembly for Wales should change its name has closed today.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nIt\u00a0asked people to choose between three options: the Senedd, the Parliament of Wales, or the Welsh Parliament.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Assembly says that a change would reflect how its role has changed since it was founded in 1999 and a new name\u00a0could\u00a0stop confusion about the difference between them and the Welsh Government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CJS News spoke to people in Cardiff about what they thought of the options.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Student Luke Fletcher, 21, said he would like to see it be renamed just as the Senedd.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, &#8220;I think the main problem the Assembly has at the moment is that it&#8217;s not viewed as\u00a0prestigious or as important as Westminster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Maybe in terms of Welsh people in general, they&#8217;ll realise that we do now have a devolved institution in Wales which is a government on their behalf.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Assembly the cost of changing the name\u00a0could be between \u00a340,000 and \u00a3150,000.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the decision goes ahead, a law to change the name of the Assembly would be drafted by\u00a0spring 2018.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Responses to the consultation will now be considered by the Assembly Commission to decide what the next steps should be.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A consultation\u00a0asking people whether the National Assembly for Wales should change its name has closed today.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":201,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[743,744],"tags":[997,1286,26,814,739,41,206],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16650"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/201"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=16650"}],"version-history":[{"count":13,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16650\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":16801,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/16650\/revisions\/16801"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=16650"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=16650"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=16650"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
