An exhibition is being launched\u00a0today at Yr Hen Lyfrgell \u00a0to remember 90 years since the Bluebirds beat Arsenal 2-1 at Wembley.<\/p>\n

It is the only time the FA Cup has ever left England.
\n<\/p>\n

Keith Morgan, chair of the Cardiff City Supporters Trust said\u00a0it’s great the anniversary is being celebrated.<\/p>\n

“I think it is an excellent idea” Mr. Morgan said.<\/p>\n

“It is somewhere for Cardiff fans to go and reflect on what was a tremendous achievement for the club.”<\/p>\n

Mr. Morgan says fans should not forget about the FA Cup win in 1927.<\/p>\n

“It was a great day – it was the first time the FA Cup had been taken outside of England.”<\/p>\n

“I think key dates like this one – and for the centenary ten years time again should be a tremendous occasion. I do not think people should forget what a large sporting achievement it was for still a relatively small club to win the cup.<\/p>\n

“I think the FA Cup was then probably was far more in the public eye and far more of major event then it currently is.”<\/p>\n

Cardiff Council cabinet member Peter Bradbury says he is convinced the FA Cup final would have never come to the Principality Stadium if it was not for Cardiff’s 1927 triumph.<\/p>\n

“I have been a Cardiff City fan since 1990, we have been brought up with stories about the famous team in 1927.” Cllr Bradbury said.<\/p>\n

“It was the first time the and the only time the FA Cup was won by a Welsh team.<\/p>\n

“That forced the FA to make a change in the name of the competition.<\/p>\n

“I’m convinced that if we hadn’t of won the FA Cup in 1927 we may have not seen the competition come to Cardiff when the new Wembley was being built.<\/p>\n

The exhibition will be open to the public at the Cardiff Stories library from tomorrow and will run for six months.<\/p>\n
