{"id":17364,"date":"2017-11-06T14:45:49","date_gmt":"2017-11-06T14:45:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=17364"},"modified":"2017-11-08T15:56:25","modified_gmt":"2017-11-08T15:56:25","slug":"__trashed-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/__trashed-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Calls for 24 hour access to defibrillator in Penarth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A campaigner from Penarth says lives could be at risk unless a council owned defibrillator is made fully accessible.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Defibrillators can save lives during a heart attack.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think you would find that nearly every family within Penarth has probably had some incident where they might have lost a loved one to a heart attack,&#8221; says Penarth businesswoman Cathy O&#8217;Doherty.<\/p>\n<p>Although there is\u00a0 a device in the council owned Paget Rooms building (pictured) on Victoria Road, it can only be used when the building is in use.<\/p>\n<p>Ms O&#8217;Doherty has been trying to make the defibrillator accessible around the clock by moving it outside.<\/p>\n<p>This requires a temperature controlled box, which can cost up to \u00a3900. Penarth Town Council say they can&#8217;t afford it.<\/p>\n<p>The box cannot be placed on walls of the Paget Rooms, as it is a listed building.<\/p>\n<p>But the council say the defibrillator can be moved if someone else raises the money.<\/p>\n<p>Ms O&#8217;Doherty is trying to find a suitable location nearby.
