{"id":18645,"date":"2018-02-02T15:49:45","date_gmt":"2018-02-02T15:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=18645"},"modified":"2018-02-06T15:47:09","modified_gmt":"2018-02-06T15:47:09","slug":"fine-fly-tippers-more-says-cardiff-councillor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/fine-fly-tippers-more-says-cardiff-councillor\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Fine fly-tippers more&#8217; says Cardiff councillor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Labour Councillor Ed Stubbs says new measures are needed to stop and punish repeated fly-tippers in his Splott ward.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>He wants fines to be higher and for the council to provide mobile CCTV in the area to catch fly-tippers and to &#8220;keep them on their toes&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Fly-tipping is the illegal act of dumping items next to a road, in fields, in rivers, or private land without permission.<\/p>\n<p>Campaign group Keep Splott Tidy recently tweeted about rubbish being dumped in areas they had cleared up only days before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As a councillor and a Keep Splott Tidy volunteer myself who tidied up that area the day before the fly-tipping, I found it frustrating,&#8221; said Cllr Stubbs.<\/p>\n<p>He also warned about private companies dumping waste, saying:\u00a0&#8220;If you see an advert on Gumtree or locally that says &#8216;pick up for an incredibly cheap price&#8217;, you&#8217;ve got to ask yourself the question &#8216;what&#8217;s happening to that waste?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>People have got to start getting a bit cleverer&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor Stubbs also said he wanted the council to give more publicity to the fines they hand out.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;d like the fly-tippers to know that fines are being given out. I&#8217;m not sure we can ever do enough of that,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">We feel so upset.
