{"id":18803,"date":"2018-02-06T13:51:45","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T13:51:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=18803"},"modified":"2018-02-09T11:45:37","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T11:45:37","slug":"overflowing-rubbish-angers-roath-park-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/overflowing-rubbish-angers-roath-park-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"Overflowing rubbish angers Roath Park residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>There are fears litter will spoil one of Wales&#8217; most popular parks after Cardiff Council removed large bins.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Locals fear the changes at Roath Recreation Ground will increase the amount of litter in the park and say it is already causing the smaller bins to overflow.<\/p>\n<p>They want the council to make sure the park, which was named the best in Wales in 2017, is kept clean.<\/p>\n<p>The council said they would review the situation when the weather improves.<\/p>\n<p>Sports teams and dog walkers used the large bins, but locals said these were removed recently.<\/p>\n<p>Jeremy Sparkes from Penylan said: &#8220;The removal of these large bins is causing others to overflow. The removal of a large bin last Thursday reduced total bin capacity by about 40%.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Sparkes said the large bins were around chest-height and could fit a lot more waste than the other bins.<\/p>\n<p>He added: &#8220;The bins were last emptied five days ago and that&#8217;s not good enough.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Howard Nicholls from Roath said he used the larger bins a lot more than the regular ones. He told CJS News: &#8220;I walk the dog every day and this is going to make it more difficult to get rid of my rubbish.
