{"id":18824,"date":"2018-02-06T13:23:07","date_gmt":"2018-02-06T13:23:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=18824"},"modified":"2018-02-09T11:45:48","modified_gmt":"2018-02-09T11:45:48","slug":"newport-worst-city-in-wales-for-traffic-congestion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/newport-worst-city-in-wales-for-traffic-congestion\/","title":{"rendered":"Newport &#8216;worst city in Wales&#8217; for traffic jams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Newport was the worst place in Wales for traffic congestion in 2017, according to\u00a0traffic analytics firm Inrix<\/b><br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Congestion in Newport was worse than other major cities including Leeds, Liverpool and Glasgow, the figures show.<\/p>\n<p>Inrix also estimated the total cost of congestion across Wales was more than \u00a31.8bn in 2017 and\u00a0in Cardiff alone, drivers lost more than \u00a31,000 in time and fuel that year.<\/p>\n<p>Leroy Hutchinson, who is a driver for Dragon Taxis in Newport says the city needs a relief road.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-18833\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/27901174_10211055337845041_307998530_o-525x394.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"525\" height=\"394\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Newport is terrible. It&#8217;s one way in and one way out. They need to build a relief road. There is speculation all the time, but nothing happens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>There are controversial plans to build a relief road around Newport.
