{"id":19197,"date":"2018-02-13T16:54:43","date_gmt":"2018-02-13T16:54:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=19197"},"modified":"2018-02-13T17:52:43","modified_gmt":"2018-02-13T17:52:43","slug":"new-bin-collection-scheme-is-a-health-and-hygiene-risk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/new-bin-collection-scheme-is-a-health-and-hygiene-risk\/","title":{"rendered":"New bin collection scheme is a &#8216;health and hygiene risk&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In their latest bid to improve recycling figures in Bridgend, Kier Waste Management have started putting stickers on bin bags which they refuse to take.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>They say this will pinpoint homes who are not doing their bit and putting out too many bags each fortnight.<\/p>\n<p>Homeowners whose bags have stickers on have been told remove anything recyclable or take it to a refuse facility in their own time, with repeat offenders facing a fine of up to \u00a3100.<\/p>\n<p>Freya Sykes runs a sweet shop on Nolton Street in the town centre. She told CJS News: &#8220;As a resident in the borough, you put your rubbish out and if it\u2019s not taken by Kier, those bags are then expected to be taken back into flats, taken in for a week, sorted through by the residents.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That really isn\u2019t going to happen, they\u2019re just going to leave them on the street-side and then you\u2019re going to have foxes, birds, rats going into these bags.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Litter is going to be everywhere on our streets and that\u2019s not acceptable.
