{"id":19258,"date":"2018-02-16T14:49:50","date_gmt":"2018-02-16T14:49:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=19258"},"modified":"2018-02-16T16:03:34","modified_gmt":"2018-02-16T16:03:34","slug":"fury-over-cardiff-park-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/fury-over-cardiff-park-closure\/","title":{"rendered":"Fury over Cardiff park closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The closure of a Llanedeyrn playground is &#8220;madness&#8221; according to a local councillor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Chapelwood park in Llanedeyrn\u00a0has been shut since December\u00a0after a tar-like substance was found on a slide according to\u00a0Lib Dem councillor Joseph Carter.<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Carter claims\u00a0Cardiff Council say they cannot afford to clean it off until after the next financial year in April, with no date for this to happen.<\/p>\n<p>He said the situation was &#8220;utter madness,&#8221; adding: &#8220;It&#8217;s devastating because this a very popular park for younger children. With a new housing estate being built right beside this playground, it&#8217;s important that the council come and sort this issue out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cllr Carter does not accept the council&#8217;s budget should stand in the way.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a council with a budget of \u00a3700m,&#8221; he said. &#8220;I can&#8217;t see how we&#8217;re looking at more than a few hundred pounds to fix this, these are very small amounts of money in the grand scheme of things.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>David Kegwin, who chairs the residents&#8217; association said he would be willing to clean the park himself.
