{"id":19449,"date":"2018-02-20T12:39:51","date_gmt":"2018-02-20T12:39:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=19449"},"modified":"2018-02-20T16:49:59","modified_gmt":"2018-02-20T16:49:59","slug":"stop-speeding-demand-after-adamsdown-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/stop-speeding-demand-after-adamsdown-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Stop speeding&#8217; demand after Adamsdown crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>People in Adamsdown want more to be done to stop speeding drivers after a crash in Adamsdown Square.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Jonathan Ellwood lives in the square, and claims speeding was the reason for one car driving into another parked vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You do get a lot of people speeding in the area,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I heard a screeching noise and when I looked out of the window I saw a car going way faster than it should, then there was a loud bang.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One car had driven into another and drove off. It was basically a hit and run.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Cardiff Council announced residential areas in Adamsdown will have a 20mph speed limit by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Other areas of the city highlighted in the plan are\u00a0Splott, Gabalfa, Riverside, Canton, Grangetown, Plasnewydd,\u00a0 Penylan, and Butetown.<\/p>\n<p>But people in Adamsdown want action now, claiming lives are being put at risk.<\/p>\n<p>Gwenda Owen, who chairs Cardiff Cycling Campaign said: \u201cWe have young children, we have older adults who may be slower crossing roads, and the difference of a few miles per hour when someone is speeding could mean the difference between life and death.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Cardiff Council said:\u00a0&#8220;This scheme is being implemented to make the roads safer and encourage more people to leave their cars at home so they consider using public transport, walking or cycling.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Main roads in the areas highlighted for reduced speeds will remain at 30mph, with only the residential areas reduced to 20mph zones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>People in Adamsdown want more to be done to stop speeding drivers after a crash in Adamsdown Square.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":148,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[743,744,750,1],"tags":[829,794,392,969,828],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19449"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/148"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=19449"}],"version-history":[{"count":11,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19449\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":19490,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/19449\/revisions\/19490"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=19449"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=19449"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=19449"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
