Villagers using a “lifeline” bus service into the capital have criticised\u00a0plans to double the journey time.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n
If Stagecoach proposals go ahead, the Pentyrch to Cardiff bus will take nearly an hour to travel under eight miles.<\/p>\n
More than 200 passengers have raised concerns.<\/p>\n
But Stagecoach says the suggested changes reflect customer demand.<\/p>\n
It wants to scrap 136 service and replace it with\u00a0a modified 124 service, which takes longer.<\/p>\n
John Reid said: “It’s a lifeline to get into Cardiff for anybody really, but especially for a lot of the older people.”<\/p>\n
Carolina Sagarmendi added: “People in the village need the bus to get into town as quickly as possible.”<\/p>\n
Gavin John-Hill, Conservative councillor for Pentyrch, said: “I feel at the moment Stagecoach haven\u2019t really given enough consideration to the needs of the residents and the proposal they\u2019ve put forward are very sketchy at best.”<\/p>\n
Stagecoach said: “We’re proposing to make changes to these services which serve Cardiff, Creigiau and Maerdy to reflect customer demand and to improve the reliability of the services.<\/p>\n
“We encourage our passengers to review the proposals\u00a0and provide feedback by 2nd March.”<\/p>\n
