{"id":19932,"date":"2018-03-06T11:01:47","date_gmt":"2018-03-06T11:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=19932"},"modified":"2018-03-06T15:01:05","modified_gmt":"2018-03-06T15:01:05","slug":"farmers-say-rural-crime-is-a-constant-threat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/farmers-say-rural-crime-is-a-constant-threat\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmers say rural crime is a &#8216;constant threat&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Vale of Glamorgan farmer is appealing for help after what he says is a spate of rural crime.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Sheep farmer Ben Jones is calling for people to look out for a sheep feeder worth \u00a3300 stolen from his farm in Hensol.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 rural crime cost Wales \u00a31.3m, according to the NFU Mutual Rural Crime Report.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Jones said: &#8220;We were a bit upset to say the least that something we had only bought six months ago had been taken out of the field.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>With lambing season underway, he added that thefts brought significant extra financial stress.<\/p>\n<p>South Wales Police said they have to manage resources between rural and urban areas with limited funds.<\/p>\n<p>PC Mark Goulding said: &#8220;It&#8217;s a challenge for us resource-wise. We have to focus on intelligence-led policing and demand, and if that demand comes from a town then that&#8217;s where we will be.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Equally we have to try and find a balance and recognise that our rural environments also need us.
