{"id":21864,"date":"2018-12-11T17:22:29","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T17:22:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=21864"},"modified":"2018-12-11T17:22:29","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T17:22:29","slug":"penarth-town-council-request-speed-cameras","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/penarth-town-council-request-speed-cameras\/","title":{"rendered":"Penarth Town Council request speed cameras"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Penarth Town Council have sent a request to Penarth police for the town&#8217;s first speed cameras.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The move comes after a speed survey found multiple residents complaining about the frequent speeding drivers along Terra Nova Way.<\/p>\n<p>Local resident Laura Deininger said she has stopped walking her dog along the road because of the danger, and that it&#8217;s &#8220;becoming more and more of a problem as time goes on.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Town Council have endorsed the proposals from Councillor Gary Allman, requesting the installation of an average-speed camera system that would measure the time cars enter and exit the road.<\/p>\n<p>The Town Clerk will write a request to South Wales Police to proceed with the installation of the cameras.<\/p>\n<p>But some residents have expressed doubts as to how serious the problem really is.<\/p>\n<p>Laura Dunn, who lives on Terra Nova Way said that she was &#8220;Not sure it was that bad.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I notice the speed but I&#8217;m not sure if putting cameras down is the way to go.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Heard, who also lives in the area, said that he hadn&#8217;t noticed anyone speeding that fast down the road.<\/p>\n<p>In response to other residents&#8217; complaints of dangerous around the area, which is next to Penarth Marina, he said that &#8220;there&#8217;s better ways than speeding cameras [to stop speeding].<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I don&#8217;t necessarily think speed humps are the right thing, but there&#8217;s ways to educate people and improve people&#8217;s knowledge of what&#8217;s happening rather than putting speed cameras or humps in.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Penarth Town Council have sent a request to Penarth police for the town&#8217;s first speed cameras.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":189,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[744,750],"tags":[26,829,366,1628,830,263],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21864"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/189"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=21864"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21864\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":21985,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/21864\/revisions\/21985"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=21864"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=21864"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=21864"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
