{"id":21883,"date":"2018-12-11T18:08:12","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T18:08:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=21883"},"modified":"2018-12-11T21:07:22","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T21:07:22","slug":"new-20mph-speed-limits-in-cardiff-no-good-whatsoever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/new-20mph-speed-limits-in-cardiff-no-good-whatsoever\/","title":{"rendered":"New 20mph speed limits in Cardiff &#8216;no good whatsoever&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>There has been a mixed response across\u00a0the city to Cardiff Council&#8217;s plans to introduce new 20mph speed limits in areas across the Welsh capital.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The new speed limits are\u00a0planned for areas\u00a0including\u00a0Riverside, Grangetown, Canton, Butetown, Gabalfa, Plasnewydd, Penylan and Splott. The scheme is due to be in place by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The new speed restrictions have divided opinion across Cardiff, with residents\u00a0in the city\u00a0speaking out. Some people are questioning the effectiveness of them.<\/p>\n<p>Cardiff taxi driver Colin Davies says &#8216;I don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s doing any good whatsoever because nobody takes any notice of them&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Davies says &#8216;There are parts of Cardiff\u00a0&#8211; Roath Park Lake, Marlborough School &#8211; all of these are 30mph. Through town it&#8217;s 30mph but where there&#8217;s no people it&#8217;s 20mph&#8217;. In his words, these speed limits are &#8216;no good whatsoever&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Residents in Radyr are also unhappy. They say there are &#8216;disgraceful double standards&#8217; regarding funding.
