{"id":22222,"date":"2019-01-25T17:41:09","date_gmt":"2019-01-25T17:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=22222"},"modified":"2019-01-29T13:49:23","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T13:49:23","slug":"planning-row-over-roath-flats-going-round-in-circles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/planning-row-over-roath-flats-going-round-in-circles\/","title":{"rendered":"Planning row over Roath flats \u201cgoing round in circles&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>People living in Roath say they are frustrated that plans for a controversial block of flats have been re-submitted, despite previous objections.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Objecting to the plans online, Dr Joanna Tremlett, \u00a0says she has been consulted on the proposals five times and asks the Council why residents are \u201cgoing round in circles\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A planning application to demolish two family homes on the corner of Strathnairn Street and build nine new flats was submitted last year.<\/p>\n<p>The plans drew widespread criticism, prompting a local petition and more than 60 objections. Local residents said they were concerned about the increase in traffic around City Road and nearby Albany Primary school, as well as the character and proposed height of the new development.<\/p>\n<p>The application was withdrawn shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>But new plans for ten flats on the same site have now been submitted.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the new application, local Labour councillors Peter Wong, Dan De\u2019Ath and Mary McGarry say there is \u201cvery little substantive difference\u201d between the new plans and previous iterations. They also question why\u00a0previous objections have not been taken into consideration.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement Cardiff Council confirmed the recent plans are considered \u201can entirely new application\u201d. This means previous objections will not be taken into account by the Planning Committee.<\/p>\n<p>Currently the new application has three online objections and a letter from councillors.<\/p>\n<p>Local resident Katherine Prosser, who has objected both times, says the new application is \u201creally sneaky\u201d and says she came across the new proposals \u201cby chance\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But Cardiff Council say the new proposals have been made public with two official Site Notices which meet the requirements for planning consultations.<\/p>\n<p>But, Samantha Haines, who lives on the street, says she \u201ccan\u2019t understand\u201d why residents haven\u2019t been contacted about the changes, and says \u201cthe council should being notifying people\u201d of the development.<\/p>\n<p>Labour MP Jo Stevens, whose office is around the corner from the planned development, said in an email to residents that she is &#8220;aware of the new application&#8221; and will be &#8220;putting in an objection very shortly&#8221;.
