One local resident, Kayleigh, tweeted that it was \u201cawful\u201d and \u201cdoesn&#8217;t make sense\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Cardiff Council have yet to confirm why the trees were cut down.<\/p>\n<p>There have also been reports of mature trees cut down across the city:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On privately owned land in Cardiff Bay in the past week.<\/li>\n<li>Campaigners continue to fight against the felling of trees in <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/final-phase-of-roath-flood-scheme-to-be-postponed\/\">Roath<\/a> to make way for flood protection.<\/li>\n<li>In <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/canton-redevelopment-threatens-ancient-trees-2\/\">Canton<\/a>, campaigners are waiting for decision from the Council\u2019s planning committee on 15 trees which are at risk because of the Suffolk House redevelopment. Local campaigner Ceri Williams called the situation \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/savesuffolkhouse.blog\/2019\/02\/10\/tree-officers-calls-for-mature-tree-felling\/\">disgraceful<\/a>\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-22777\" src=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"620\" height=\"465\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House.jpg 620w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House-150x113.jpg 150w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House-163x122.jpg 163w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House-525x394.jpg 525w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House-120x90.jpg 120w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/Suffolk-House-100x75.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 620px) 100vw, 620px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Cardiff Council says every decision on felling trees is taken separately. For example, they consider whether the tree is diseased, or refer plans for redevelopment to the planning committee.
