{"id":23061,"date":"2019-02-22T16:48:30","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T16:48:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=23061"},"modified":"2019-02-22T16:48:30","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T16:48:30","slug":"cyclists-concerned-about-safety-on-plasdwr-estate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/cyclists-concerned-about-safety-on-plasdwr-estate\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclists concerned about safety on Plasdwr estate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Local cyclists are concerned about cars parking in bike lanes on the new Plasdwr estate.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Road plans for the Plasdwr estate in Radyr were released yesterday, showing a mix of shared and segregated cycle lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Cyclists took to Twitter to express their annoyance about the shared lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Gwenda Owen, chair of campaign group Cardiff Cycle City said: &#8220;We actually looked at the development with Cardiff Council\u00a0 . . . and on paper it looked quite good and all shiny and new.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;However we did warn of the problems where you have shared paths even when they&#8217;re segregated, if cars can park on them, people will park cars on them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Some paths on the estate have already been built, and pictures have been posted on Twitter of cars parked on those lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Owen said: &#8220;I&#8217;ve cycled past there a few times\u00a0 . . . people are parking on the drop kerbs, on the paths.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;So if that&#8217;s happening at the beginning, that behaviour is going to be ingrained and those paths are never going to be useful.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Plasdwr developers team say they are trying to include active transport in the plans.<\/p>\n<p>Councillor for Llandaff Sean Driscoll, who attended a recent community engagement meeting about the plans, has said some of the cycle paths would be segregated from walkers and traffic by hedges.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Local cyclists are concerned about cars parking in bike lanes on the new Plasdwr estate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":191,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[743,744,1458],"tags":[1015,166,1693,1694],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23061"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/191"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=23061"}],"version-history":[{"count":9,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23061\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":23071,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/23061\/revisions\/23071"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=23061"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=23061"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=23061"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
