{"id":23478,"date":"2019-03-15T10:03:25","date_gmt":"2019-03-15T10:03:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=23478"},"modified":"2019-03-15T17:21:45","modified_gmt":"2019-03-15T17:21:45","slug":"cardiff-school-strike-4-climate-live-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/cardiff-school-strike-4-climate-live-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Hundreds of schoolchildren storm the steps of the Senedd to protest against climate change"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hundreds of students will be skipping class today for the second time, taking to the streets of Cardiff as part of a global climate protest.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Students from across 100 countries will leave school today, Friday March 15,\u00a0 demanding action on climate change.<\/p>\n<p>The move is part of the global initiative #schoolstrike4climate, inspired by Greta Thunberg, who protests every Friday outside of the Swedish Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Youth Strike 4 Climate comes in the wake of a UN report which warned urgent action is needed to limit global temperature rises which worsen the risk of drought, floods, extreme heat and poverty for hundreds of millions of people.<\/p>\n<p>The march will go from City Hall to Cardiff Bay, demanding action on climate change by the Welsh Government.<\/p>\n<p>Across the UK, students from 60 towns and cities are set to take part in what is the second strike of its kind, following a <a href=\"http:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/childrens-school-walkout-for-climate-change-protest\/\">previous march last month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll have live updates throughout the day.<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>17.30pm: <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Summary<\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>After marching through the city center, schoolchildren tried to get the Welsh Government to do more on climate change.
