{"id":25395,"date":"2020-03-10T17:13:22","date_gmt":"2020-03-10T17:13:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/?p=25395"},"modified":"2020-11-24T13:26:32","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T13:26:32","slug":"coronavirus-in-cardiff-sky-call-centre-staff-member-tests-positive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/coronavirus-in-cardiff-sky-call-centre-staff-member-tests-positive\/","title":{"rendered":"Coronavirus in Cardiff: Sky call centre staff member tests positive"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>A second case of Covid-19 has been confirmed in Cardiff at the broadcaster&#8217;s Tyndall Street building. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A case of coronavirus has been confirmed at a Sky call centre in Cardiff. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The building on Tyndall street in the City centre has been closed for deep cleaning and will re-open on Thursday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All staff members have been sent home until then. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sky released this statement to CJS News: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWe can confirm that a Sky colleague in our Cardiff contact centre has been diagnosed with COVID-19 and they are self-isolating at home.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cProtecting our people is \u2013 and always will be \u2013 our top priority and so we are closing the contact centre today and sending everyone home&nbsp;as a precaution. We\u2019re contacting anyone who has been in contact with our colleague and the centre itself will be deep cleaned before re-opening on Thursday.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"606\" height=\"366\" src=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/TyndallaMap-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/TyndallaMap-1.png 606w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/TyndallaMap-1-150x91.png 150w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/TyndallaMap-1-202x122.png 202w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/TyndallaMap-1-149x90.png 149w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 606px) 100vw, 606px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A Public Health Wales spokesperson said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo protect patient confidentiality we cannot comment on any individual or workplace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s the second time a case has been confirmed in the Capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As of 3pm today, when PHW issues its daily updates, there remains six confirmed cases in Wales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Robin Howe, Incident Director for the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak response at Public Health Wales, said: \u201cFollowing the announcement by the Chief Medical Officer for Wales on Monday 9 March of a further two Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Wales, the total number of confirmed cases in Wales is now six.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\u201cWe have identified and contacted close contacts of the latest confirmed cases, and we are taking all appropriate actions to protect the public\u2019s health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> \u201cWe can confirm that the two individuals are not linked to one another, and that they both travelled separately back to Wales from different parts of Italy.<br> &nbsp;&nbsp;<br> \u201cThe individuals are being managed in clinically appropriate settings based on the assessment of a specialist infectious disease consultant.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, NHS Direct Wales has unveiled a new online symptom checker to help over-stretched services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"554\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-554x394.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-554x394.png 554w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-150x107.png 150w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-171x122.png 171w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-768x547.png 768w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-620x441.png 620w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD-126x90.png 126w, https:\/\/jomec.co.uk\/cjsnews\/wp-content\/uploads\/NHSD.png 1141w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The online tool is designed to stop members of the public who haven\u2019t recently traveled to an infected area from calling 111. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The system has four stages. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Firstly, it checks that you are from Wales and then it asks you to give a specific location. Then you are told of the main symptoms and offered access to a self help guide.
