The Albany Fish Bar, in Cardiff, has celebrated 50 years in business. For this occasion, the shop has attempted the Guinness World Record for the quickest chips wrapping . Portions of chips have been sold for 5p, at the same price as it was in the 1960s and the profit of the day has been donated to Cancer Research.

The Albany Fish Bar has brought its customers back to 1967, the year of its foundation, in fact the shop has sold portions of chips for just 5p. “We wanted to celebrate our 50th anniversary in a special way – says Waseem Akhtar, owner of the shop – We have taken chips lovers on a trip through their memories, but we have also found a way to help Cancer Research”. The entire profit of the day has been donated to Cancer Research and The Albany Fish Bar staff has collected donations from customers as well.

The shop is considered one best in Cardiff, due to its tradition, its first-choice ingredients and its expert staff. “I’ve worked here since I was a boy – says Mr. Akhtar – I used to help my father after school frying fish and chips and now I run the family business”.

In order to make the celebration even more special, the Albany Fish Bar has also claimed the new Guinness World Record for the quickest chips wrapping. They wrapped six packs of chips in about forty-eight seconds, breaking the previous record of fifty-two seconds.
