In recognition of World Sleep Day we are exploring the UK’s only residential library
Ever wondered what it would be like to sleep in a library? Well, wonder no more – you can try it out at Britain’s finest residential library.
Today is World Sleep Day and to celebrate we are taking a look inside the UK’s only library which allows you to stay overnight.
Gladstone’s Library, just eight miles from the city of Chester, is situated on the doorstep of the Welsh countryside and home to nearly 150,000 printed items.
“The residential library is a beautiful Victorian building designed for anyone who loves books.”
The North Wales library pays tribute to William Gladstone. Founded by the Victorian statesman himself, following his death in 1898, it became “the national memorial to his life.” It follows his vision to make his own personal library accessible to others by allowing you to read from the moment the moon sets until the sun rises again.
Plus, it is open on Bank Holidays!
