Travel around the arctic circle means constant sun for this van dweller
Meet Tommi Sikanen, a 26-year-old IT student from Finland. Lapland to be exact. Living in the arctic circle has made him an avid summer adventurer as he can spend days on end basking in the constant sunlight, and this is his latest expedition.
Last summer, Tommi took the family van, a Hymer B 654 SL 2008, to the northernmost point in Europe, Nordkapp, or North Cape as we’d call it.
His thrill for van life came from his own upbringing and his family’s dream, which was born out of envy when they were wild camping in Finland. During a period of heavy rain, and feeling thoroughly miserable in their inadequate tent, they watched another couple across the field who were warm and carefree in their own van. It’s from this experience that Tommi and his family desired to own a van of their own and we are happy to report that they now do.
You’ll be able to discover the delights on Tommi’s full adventure in our second print magazine, which is due to hit the shelves on Wednesday 22 March!
But, in the meantime here is a map of the stops Tommi took along the way:
