Dumb phones are a smart choice

Many people are left feeling overwhelmed by the options their phone gives them. Dumb phone sales are on the rise as consumers look to switch off and focus on mindfulness.

Dumb phones are good for our mental health

The simpler phones are much cheaper. This will cause less anxiety for their owners, who will not have to worry about them breaking easily. Some of them are almost indestructible. They also reduce the anxiety of constantly being available and switched on to the world around them. The excuse of that your phone has died will work when your battery life is a couple of weeks.

Many people rely on their smartphones for work. Having a simpler phone could mean a complete escape from work when at home. This should in turn allow employees to return to work each day refreshed and focused.

No apps no problem

The return of the Nokia

Nokia 3310 was originally released in 2000 is still recognisable today. Media giants such as Nokia have jumped on the band wagon. Nokia re-released the 3310 in 2017 with an updated, sleeker shell and in bright colours.

Companies are marketing these dumb phones as an escape from modern pressures. Dumb phones offer an alternative to the overwhelming pressures to keep up with the latest offerings from tech moguls.

Mobile World Congress opened its doors this week in Barcelona. There is little wonder that there will be talk of smartphones domination of the market and sales reaching a plateau. Smartphone producers must once again refocus on customers needs and less on out smarting each other with their technological development.

Smartphones may rule the tech world now, but will dumb phones make their comeback?
