With the school holidays fast approaching, you might be scrambling for something to keep the kids busy with all their new found free time. Well personally, we think healthy exercise is overrated. Sit them in front of a games console like any responsible adult would. To help you out, here’s a list of our five favourite family-friendly video games.

Overcooked (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch) £12.99

They’re not likely to learn any cooking tips from this crazy cooking game, but the anarchic co-op gameplay is bound to keep them entertained and without making a mess in the kitchen.

Just Dance 2018 (All consoles) From £18.85.

If you’re looking to tire out the little terrors before bedtime, Just Dance is here to save the day. The dance rhythm game has been released on every platform under the sun, so even the non-gamers are bound to have a machine to dust off and break out the moves.

Snipperclips (Switch) £17.99

This adorable puzzle game proved an instant success when it was released as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch. Cut each other into shape to find creative solutions to each puzzle, where cooperation is key.

Minecraft (All consoles, mobile) £17.95

An obvious choice, but the creative survival game has become a gaming juggernaut for good reason. The game found such success through YouTube “Let’s plays” that it’s even been used in classrooms. Your kids are probably already talking about it, so why not join in?

Super Mario Odyssey (Switch) £41.99

By far the most expensive item in this list, but Mario’s latest adventure is worth every penny. The award-winning sensation has a multiplayer mode where the little one can fly around as Mario’s hat Cappy, while dad can handle the more difficult platforming as Mario.
