Dads on Reddit tell us the worst songs that their kids listen to that drive them crazy

The Finger Family – Mother Goose Club

The finger family is a nursery rhyme with hundreds of covers all over the internet and TV.

But as Reddit user TheEliteDragon tells us, “The Finger Family song, it is the worst. Especially the Mother Goose Club version, which is like 5 minutes long!”

There is something about the repetitive nature of the song that really grates. Children’s YouTube channel, Mother Goose Club Playhouse’s version is particularly harrowing.

All five verses are the same, except for one small change every verse. You soon get sick of “Daddy finger, daddy finger, where are you?” with your only relief being a tiny change to “Daddy bunny, daddy bunny, where are you?”

Baby Shark – Super Simple songs

In the same vein as the Finger Family, Baby Shark tells the epic tale of a baby shark and its family. RizzoTheSmall said, “Baby Shark makes our babber calm down immediately, but God damn is it annoying and we both find ourselves humming it day and night.”

Fair warning, if you watch this you will be humming “Baby Shark Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo” for an agonisingly long period of time. There is also the extended 30 minute mix which is absolutely delightful.

Baby Shark was so popular with kids that it also got a halloween version (Ghost Shark Doo doo doo doo, doo doo doo doo doo) and features in other characters songs. Glorious.

I Want a Snuffy for Christmas – Sesame Street

Even beloved programmes such as Sesame Street don’t escape a father’s list of pet hates. Dadit commenter neverdeadned22 says, “I want a Snuffy for Christmas, the Sesame Street song that Big Bird did with Anne Hathaway, somehow my 17 month old finds it on his mum’s phone when watching youtube, every single day.”

We’re not sure whether it’s Anne Hathaway’s less than convincing acting for a children’s audience or the fact that snuffleupagus is a really hard word to say, especially in the context of a song, but something really annoys the senses in this song.

I’m the Map – Dora The Explore

Dora the Explorer is annoying show for parents at the best of times. However, with the addition of a very repetitive song it soon becomes 22 mins of hell.

Nosocks_50625 tells us that I’m a Map is one the most annoying kids songs. There’s little to explain here, the Map appears and explains what a map does briefly, before proceeding to tell us that it is the Map. The Map then states that, “I’m the Map” far too many times than healthy.

Friday – Rebecca Black

Rebecca Black’s Friday was released in 2011 and at the time it was funny in a ironic way. Fast forward seven years and any semblance of hilarity has gone. Poor Dadit user, Remeedez tells Big Daddy, “My 6 year old loves Rebecca Black’s Friday way too much. Like any song, even ones with annoying, grating, high pitched (or whatever) singers, they’re fine listening to once. But a thousand times later… Not so much.”

It really doesn’t help that Friday’s lyrics are so stupid that they somehow make the simplistic children’s songs on this look smart. “Kickin’ in the front seat, kicking’ in the back seat. Which seat can I take?” The empty one Rebecca, the EMPTY ONE!

The Stick Song – Hey Duggee

Cbeebies’ Hey Duggee is a popular show but Reddit user Cynical Sorcerer is particularly tired of one of it’s most popular songs. The Stick Song is a thoroughly enlightening song about a errr, stick.

Impressive in its use of only the lyrics; “stick” and “sticky” The Stick Song is truly a modern day phenomenon. The Stick Song differentiates itself from the other songs on this list by being a lot less twee. In fact it could work in a dance club. For a really torturous experience play it on 0.25 speed on YouTube.

Regardless, The Stick Song is incredibly frustrating and if a child is playing it over and over it is going to be annoying.

Cbeebies take this song and stick it up your arse.
