The chocolate company, owned by Mars Inc, has caused outrage on Twitter after publishing a series of tweets mocking Welsh place names. A Plaid Cymru MP also criticised the company the company after comparing the spellings to someone sitting on a keyboard.
The tweets by the UK Snickers account have since been deleted following a backlash on Twitter with some people saying they would never buy the chocolate bar again.
The company also came under fire for misspelling some of the place names ..
The Plaid Cymru MP Carmarthen East and Dinefwr also criticised the company and said “Our language and our culture is the last acceptable form of racism. These xenophobic attacks are clearly not acceptable. There doesn’t seem to be a week that goes by without somebody mocking Wales as a country, or mocking our language and culture.”
CJS News asked their following that those who are Welsh how many were offended, with over 75% of those surveyed saying they were offended by the posts written by the chocolate company.
Snickers has since apologised “From everyone at Snickers UK, we’re sorry to everyone offended by our last tweet.
“We totally misjudged it and hold our hands up for that.
