View from the streets on Cardiff council's budget cuts

Cardiff Council announced plans to cut £45 million from its budget for the next year at a meeting last night.

Many residents of the city have expressed their disappointment at the news.

Steve Hawkins said: “It’s a disgrace with the money that’s being wasted in Cardiff at the moment and being misspent here and there.

“The quality of life is getting worse and worse and yet it’s costing more and more and it’s to do with our council.”

Owen Isaac said: “Nearly all my council tax is going on their inflated pensions.”

St David’s Hall and the New Theatre could be sold off to private buyers under the plans.

Jessica Haig, a music undergraduate at Cardiff University, said she enjoyed performing at St David’s Hall.

“It would be one less place for us to perform in,” she said.
